How long ago was it where anyone would have ever put the words “marijuana” and “journalism” together period? Just comes to show how far we have come in our society that this is now the norm, or at least a reality. Marijuana legalization or at least decriminalization are not too far off here in the US, it is a steam roller that has been gathering more and more steam with each passing month. Now with our new Democratic House odds are good that we’ll see something this year.

While High Times still exists, not sure if that can be called journalism, maybe entertainment. Journalism for the marijuana industry is more about not just which strain of this bud does what, but more about legislation issues, laws, business development and economic issues. All thrown in together. I not too long ago picked my favorite online resources for Environmental Journalism, listing only three, although there are literally hundreds to choose from. In the Marijuana industry there are really only two that I love, watch and read.

Top choice is definitely Marijuana Moment, Tom has been at the game a long time. They keep the site updated with all government and legislative issues and write in a manner that easy and friendly to follow. Also happen to love his twitter feed @TomAngell Takes pot shots at SAM.

The Cannabist has been the Denver Posts outlet for marijuana news and journalism, but has been going through a bit of a shake up recently. Not sure where the future is for this online resource, but hopefully it sticks around.
